Common Questions

Culhane Lake Resort is a non-smoking family resort. Safety, and ensuring a peaceful northern experience for all of our guests is important to us. We do have restrictions for groups, house parties, occupancy, and noise.  Please review our frequently asked questions and download our Vacation Rental Agreement for details.

Our Response to COVID-19

Every time a cabin is cleaned, all hard surfaces like countertops, refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, shower, toilet, light switches, and door handles are also sanitized as an extra precaution.

Can We Bring Our Pets

We are pet friendly with restrictions. Cats must be litter trained. Dogs must be friendly with other guests and their pets, including the hosts dogs and must not bother other guests. We do not allow barkers out of courtesy to other guests. We do not allow pets to be left unattended in cabins while you are away unless your pet is crate trained and does not bark or howl. If you make a reservation and there is a problem with your dog barking and/or not being friendly then you will be asked to leave and no refunds will be issued.

Solar Power, Electricity and Cooking

There is no electric service for miles around us so we provide our own solar-powered electricity. Because power is limited, we do not offer air conditioning or fans. Please help conserve power by shutting off all lights before leaving each day and do not bring electric fans or appliances.

Each cabin is stocked with cooking essentials, including a stove, refrigerator, microwave, various pots, pans, frypans, roasters and oven pans, dining ware, glasses, coffee cups, silverware, coffee press, coffee percolator, cooking/grilling utensils, and knives. Paper towels, kitchen towels and dish soap are provided. Depending on the cabin there will be either a gas grill or charcoal grill for outdoor grilling.

How close are the cabins to each other?

Our resort has four rental cabins, so you will see your neighbors. There is a shared fire pit and outdoor seating lakeside, and we are steps away from the North Country Trail and a short drive to Lake Superior for plenty of private space.

What times are check-in/out?

Check in is after 4PM and check out is 10AM. We do occasionally get asked about early check in. We rarely allow either because we don’t have employees willing to work this remotely so it’s up to us to clean and sanitize four cabins on turn over days. To request early check in or late check out, email us at culhanelakeresort@gmail.com.

Is the water drinkable/potable?

The water is not very drinkable, in that, it doesn’t taste very good because the wells are shallow. The resort does provide plenty of deep well water for coffee, tea, cooking and drinking. Most of our guests also bring bottled water.

What about parking?

You can park your vehicle right next to your cabin for easy access. The resort offers designated parking for additional vehicles, boat, and snowmobile trailers. We do not allow atv’s or off road vehicles on the property due to limited space and proximity of neighboring cabins. There is a county launch ramp next door to the resort and a dock at the resort for guest use. Special parking for atvs is also provided. We do not allow camping in tents, travel trailers, or motor homes on resort property without prior written permission.

Is there Wi-Fi or cell phone reception at the cabin?

Because of the secluded nature of our location, cell phone service may be a little spottier than normal. You will not get reception here at the resort but you may a few miles south of us. ATT is currently at work on a new cell tower, located closer to the resort, and we expect to have some cell service available from that tower by spring 2021. In the mean time, without cell service or WiFi, please relax, unplug, and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you here. And if you need to have an emergency contact then then please use the resort number 906-287-0009 and the hosts will be happy to relay a message.
